Eli turns two!

It is hard to believe this was Eli a year ago...
...barely crawling
...still eating lots of purees
...maybe 1 tooth

February 2013

and here he is on his birthday this year...
...walking and RUNNING
...chatting all the time
...lots of hair

February 2014

His stats:
age: 2 years
height:  34 1/2 inches (50th percentile)
weight: 28 lbs (49th percentile)

We started off his birthday with lots of balloons, a chocolate chip pancake breakfast and then a trip to the science museum with the grandparents.

Since the pancakes were so good and the milk lid was not shut just right Eli had an outfit change before heading to the museum.

We found a great deal on a museum membership at the start of 2014 and it has been a great investment.  Keith's office is 2 blocks away so when we go down there during the week he can usually meet us for a little while.  Also, since we go at least twice a month Eli feels like he owns the place.  He has gotten a little cautious with new surroundings and people so it is fun to see him in a place where he feels so "at home".

Later on in the day we did Facetime with the other set of grandparents and of course sang, had cake and opened presents.  It was a total Eli day, but one he loved very much.  I love him at this age (actually, I love him at every age, but every one just seems to get better).

Keith and I found the mickey ears for Eli on our recent trip to Disney world and figured we would use it as his birthday crown, but we both forgot about it until after the cake was cut, so he modeled it during present opening.

Eli,
Happy 2nd birthday!  It is so fun to watch you grow and grow.  Of course it goes by too fast but I see it as a privilege to spend most of the day with you.  I love your sweet personality and that you like to snuggle and sometimes just need a hug :).  I also love that you are learning more about being a friend to others and have found a few good friends here in Louisville.  I love how you talk and say our names all the time.  Every morning when your Daddy wakes you up it means a lot that you run around the house saying "mama" until you find me.  I love to hear you recite your ABCs.  It is so fun to see you learn!  Thanks for being my buddy and having patience with both your Dad and I as we learn to be parents.  We love you and trust the Lord with your life!

Love,
Mommy

If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
